louis, Please don't get the impression that 'everything-is-all right' .... it isn't. CPQ is a solid technology industry leader who happened to get screwed-up in all sorts of ways by EP/EM/sellected-protectorives. EP did a great job from taking over from Canion up until about 2yrs ago. Competition and thoughts of getting to $50-100 billion more than clouded his judgement, actions and compatriot reliances. I happen to have great faith in CPQ, Rosen and now Michael Capellas (MC). MC has most of the important attributes necessary to bring CPQ not only back but beyond where it was and should be. He is not one of the 'star' types right now but give him time. WS/FMs are a bit surprised by MC's ascedance to CEO and have clouded their thoughts with "well CPQ couldn't attract ..." ... they have to say something ... they haven't (as yet) been extremely negative and for sure they are not willing to gamble with an out-right positive. MC IS up and running NOW with no time lost to learning the company & culture or trying to change it .. this is IMPORTANT ! As well, being with CPQ ~ 1yr means he's NOT an old classic insider with wierd thinking or forcibly beaten down hopes. MC HAS the strong IT and chain mgmnt experience most needed for cutting costs, refining (rationalizing) the product offerings and relating to customers and their current & future needs. MC MUST quickly bring on board a CFO and a SrVP of e-commerce ... these are KEY and immediately necessary positions to fill. I was most impressed with MC during his introduction and the Q&A which followed .. a good start.YES the are some MC unknowns and unprovens and we all will see what happens ... i.e. - leadership, strategic ability, attractiveability, decision making, decissiveness. KEY nexts: 1) earnings (on Wed) and the cc which follows, (2) the 8/15 'Rationalization/Restructuring' plan and (3) hiring the CFO & SrVP of e-c !! If MC fails 20-22 won't hold, if he succeeds slightly 35-40 won't hold and if he does what I am hoping he can 50 after a split next year this time would be appreciated. After reading a # of your previous posts here I thought you were just another CPQ basher but in this post (to which I'm responding)I am seeing a potential light of a new believer in CPQ ... WELCOME Michael
