Absolutely correct, Les. And these anti-American diatribes have long been discredited. It seems more than unlikely that FDR would order the fleet to serve as sitting ducks for a Japanese attack, leaving the West Coast defenseless to a potential Japanese follow through. That the follow through did not come was a tactical mistake for the Japanese, similar in scope to Hitler's bog down in the Russian Winter. But, hey, if these guys didn't make errors we'd all be packing schnitzel and sushi for lunch.

Les, the carriers and their support ships were also ordered in to Pearl Harbor but were under the command of "Bull" Halsey. He was, to say the least, unconventional in his regard for politicians sticking their noses into the military. On his way to Pearl, a very strange thing happened. The carriers in the task force developed some sort of strange engine problems and had to significantly reduce their speed. Can you imagine our plight had this not happened? TD
