The bra enjoyed initial success upon its limited introduction to Shanghai in 1997, but sales were disappointing after department-store counters opened. "The Wonderbra has overestimated Chinese consumers' purchasing power," said the News. Further details on the bra's cognitive abilities were unavailable at virtual-press time.
