Berney, you really think we are going to be able to impose sales taxes on cocaine and heroine? By the way, national sales taxes have not contributed in Europe to fair taxation on the underground economy, in some countries, they have developed a significant "barter economy" completely out of the "value added tax" and sales tax systems. With the flourishing internet and offshore trading entities, you will be able to buy without sales tax whatever you want in "tax heaven" "internet" countries and you'll need a new administration to police all shipments coming in and out for taxation evasion, why, this might even be bigger than the IRS, all we need is another government entity looking into what we get or not from off shore retailers. Mind you, not only the feds will get on this game, but each local taxing authority as well (the states are already debating how to tax internet trade as we speak).
