I guess this means I shouldn't heartily recommend Compleat Day Trader II? <GG>

I took a 3-day seminar in Vegas 2-3 years ago (live trading on the 3rd day) with Berstein as one of the featured speakers, along with Larry Williams, Nick Van Nice, and a few other big names. Bernstein was one of the most personable and self-deprecating (as well as amusing, borderin on stand-up) trading speakers I've listened to, and he had good material (maybe not great, but solid enough). Probably his books are best for those seeking to move out of the basic level, who don't know TA, vs. the intermediate to advanced traders. It is true that most futures types despise the guy, but I've never really understood why myself.

Of course, he does stand convicted (almost literally) of doing those sleazy Tony Robbins-style "get rich quick trading futures" infomercials (obviously targeting the Ma and Pa types who wonder about this investing stuff...) for which he was sanctioned by his peers in the profession about a year ago. Surprisingly, Larry Williams has been running the same type of informercials (only slightly less sleazy) recently as well. A bunch of those futures guru guys run in the same pack...

Sounds like my experience with Trader Vic's books. Everyone swears by them but the only use I could find for them was kindling.

Believe me I tried.
