Mad2, are you saying that you shorted over $5 and then held the short below $5? I have done that many times. As long as you have the cash in your account then thats no problem, but if it is listed non-marginable then how are you shorting them?

Thanks for the answer, I ll give a try whether I can short NM issues from a cash acct. All I know is that I never could get off issues like GKI or later EFAX and NAVR with Datek, once they got flagged NM.

Right, DLIA, DBCC were always open.
