These people who were paid so superbly should definitely perform superbly. So I take it then, that eBay didn't offer stock options to its IT staff? Whats the story there? Or did the people just get overpaid and underperformed?


Thats my guess. Another sybase situation, where the management is too cheap to dole out the big bucks for the technical staff. 3 years later, you are obsolete. Meanwhile Oracle was awash in stock options.

I don't know... I've seen it before though.

To be fair Amazon has a lot of Oracle and that might be why I have heard of their recruiting. I don't know... ebay might be outside my radar with whatever technology they have.
