Because cookies are lost each time the items listed below occur, I believe most Web users are counted multiple times in registered user counts and "unique" user counts.

How many people have access to more than one computer? I would guess at least half of all Web users have used the Web from more than one computer or device.

I think Yahoo says something like 40% of their traffic comes from users at work. I would guess that many of these users also use the Web from home and that many have registered more than once at Yahoo because of the cookie thing.

Web users upgrade from old computers to new computers (I am getting a new computer at work soon. I will be losing all my browser cookies gathered from hundreds of sites... most of which I have no idea what my UserID and password are).

Web users can use the Web through a palm pilot.

Web users try out different online services such as AOL, MSN, Earthlink, MindSpring.

Web users often use more than one browser (eg. Microsoft, Netscape, WebTV?).
