Marc: Re: "I might therefore keep my hedge on for the moment and consider closing it out if we get a more severe correction more towards the 10% range since this would involve both more profit and also bring up the possibility of a more prolonged time frame before the current questionable status of the market resolves one way or
another."

I guess this makes sense assuming you believe the correction will go to 10%. I was thinking on my own that we were in bottoming process on Friday. I was struck by Gateway and Sun Microsystem's performance on the good news of their earnings. Their stocks went up instead of selling off in the face of good news. In the semi equipment sector, I noted AMAT to you previously and will also note ASYT. ASYT beat expectations by a nickel with a 45% increase in sequential revenues, an increase of ten baisis points in GMs, a BTB far greater than the industry average and projections of sequential growth of 20% - 25%. And the stock went up 10% on Friday. But it is hard to imagine too much progress before Wednesday with Greenspan slated to be before the Senate then.

I'm curious why you are using Bob's ideas to develop a hedge strategy. I believe he is recommending a 100% invested position, which doesn't include a hedge.

Best wishes,
