Let us untangle ourselves from Luddite views. As our race continues to advance and expand on this planet we are feeling the greater pressure to move outward -- just as the explorers of the Americas (north and south) did centuries ago. We do not need limits to growth. Nor do we need to slow or stop technological advances. What we need is a huge, commercially driven, move into the Solar System. We need cities on the Moon and Mars. We need to start terra-forming Venus, we need to start mining asteroids, and we need to restart the NERVA nuclear pulse rocket program for deep solar exploitation. FT
