Sounds like you live in a smaller town, and if so that would explain your far easier and safer senario re: finding water.

I have lived in or been in some of those cities you listed as being able to walk to and bring home water from inland watering holes- my last remarks were largely addressing them, esp the largest 120 cities.

In any case, why base actions or even spend time contemplating on that set of senarios when it is virtually free, simple, and easy to store substantial amounts of clean water at the last minute? Too much of that kind of evaluation for no practical reason can lead to 'water on the brain'!
