Steve M. You are probably correct that CDMA has greater data bandwidth than does EDGE. I reread the folowing source of my info and it is silent on that matter.

Caxton - Great CDMA 3G conference. I'm still thinking about all the angles. A couple of
takeaways though was the brilliant pitch Irwin made to the potential users of EDGE i.e. ATT.
He basically said that since the CDMA2000 1X doubles the capacity for voice, in addition to
allowing data, you would have to be pretty silly to make the investment in EDGE when when
CDMA2000 1X will be available at the same time. Pretty compelling. He made a good case
for CDMA in China too. It almost sounded like he might use the funds from the Q offering to
subsidize China Unicom in their infra buildout. I am only interpreting here, he just said that
the only thing holding them back is the investment capital (and maybe a little politics).
