Darline,

The quiet period is the time (25 days) after a stock IPOs that NO Broker Recommendations can come out. After 30 days ( or 25 I beleive) an IPO can be shorted in the US markets, legally.

The quiet period is basically a period of time for the stock to settle down after the IPO run/fall and stabalize on investor's valuation of the stock. (But the key is no broker rec's)

Hope that helps.
