>Often, more assimilated blacks "cannot boogie", perhaps because they are loathe to indulge stereotypes.< Or perhaps, seeing that other folk live differently, and finding themselves attracted to their style of life, some black folk find they simply don't enjoy boogying. >It is a good development, although there will probably [be] cultural limitations to the phenomenon…< I can see no real limitations. >and the black churches are still an important source of leadership in their communities.... < Unfortunately it seems too many of these “leaders” are dogs. I think blacks should turn from these “leaders” yesterday, and seek opportunity wherever it exists. They should openly look around at folk who are more successful than they (in fact whatever a person's colour he should do this), blatantly saying to themselves they are going to copy them. Then, they should boldly step out and do it. There is nothing wrong with recognising someone is more successful than you and then practising their techniques so as to better yourself. I have a friend who seems pretty dang comfortable with himself these days. He is not much of a “boogier,” in fact I can definitely boogie better than he (grin). But the guy came from very lowly beginnings. He now owns a ton of fast-food restaurants and has made a dang fortune. I asked him how he got out of poverty. In a nutshell he said he just looked around, saw how whites did it, and determined to emulate them. Now many whites try to emulate him. This guy, and guys like him, are the black leaders. Heck they lead every dang body, whatever the colour. “Reverend” Jesse and his ilk are just dogs. (gotta run)
