Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. Ships Two Transportable Digital Radio Test Systems and Announces Further Business Developments MARKHAM, ON, Aug. 6 /CNW-PRN/ - Unique Broadband Systems, Inc. (UBS: VSE) announces that the Company has just shipped two complete transportable Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) test systems to CD Radio, Inc. Each system includes a transmitter, COFDM modulator, MPEG2 source encoder, multiplexer and audio source. These systems will be utilized in the testing of prospective sites in 100 cities across the United States, for the implementation of their national terrestrial repeater network. In addition, Unique Broadband Systems is currently negotiating a non-exclusive OEM relationship with one of Europe's leading DAB transmitter manufacturers. Under the terms of the agreement, Unique will supply its MPEG2 source encoders and multiplexers for digital audio transmission. Unique recently shipped the first order, which totalled approximately $125,000. ''This is yet another testament to Unique's reputation as one of the world leaders in the DAB field, and will also give the Company an inroad into the European marketplace'', stated Alex Dolgonos, President and CEO of Unique Broadband Systems. Due to nature of the confidentiality agreement, the Company may not disclose the name of the company until the agreement has been finalized. In other developments, the Company is in the final stage of negotiations with a world leader in the satellite communications field, with a view to the establishment of a partnership, that will give the team the ability to volume manufacture terrestrial repeaters for the Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (SDARS). This is a major step for the Company, as it will give Unique the capability to satisfy the requirements of an equipment supply contract, should the Company be successful in one of its recent bids to provide a national repeater system. The Company has just introduced its latest version of its DAB multiplexer which now has the capability to drop and insert a number of programmes from the studio into a single multiplexer. This new multiplexer was designed at the request of CBC.
