Please point out the factual critique of the Barron's article, I cannot find it.

You miss the point on GT0 shorts. You NEVER cover. You NEVER realize a gain. You get to keep and spend the proceeds of the short sale. In effect, it is tax free. Now there is some risk in still having the short. And, I am told if you can't find a bid somewhere for the stock, you must declare a gain. But not for a long time. It can be much better than a long term capital gain. But they are hard to find.
