Now that the initial shock of all this selling has worn off (at least for me), it's easier to see how healthy this is for the stock. Like a healthy prairie, the tall grass must be burned off now and then to provide room for new growth.

It's plain to me that this kind of selling -- high volume, precipitous -- is the work of people making plays on the move, rather than investors bailing over concerns that fundamentals are eroding. Maybe some folks are running for greener pastures, only to come back after this next quarter is over? I think getting out for a couple months is dangerous, given LU's past performance and McGinn's ferocity. God, I'd hate to be competing against that guy....

Brian Finnerty was on CNBC this afternoon and thought that the selling in techs was overdone. He thought that it was time to start buying larger techs like LU and IBM
