BSkyB Teams Up With Sony

British Sky Broadcasting signed up the British unit of Japan's Sony Corp. to manufacture and supply digital decoders.

It's the fifth manufacturer of receivers for the SkyDigital service. The Sony set-top boxes will be on the market at the end of 1999.

BSkyB added it was exploring a partnership with Sony in other technological areas, such as high-speed digital connections for household audio and visual appliances as well as integrated digital television sets.
