Lucent's High Five on Digital Modem Chip
July 26, 1999

Lucent Technologies said early today that five companies have chosen its digital system-on-a chip modem chip for high-speed Internet solutions. The companies are: Dell Computer and modem manufacturers Actiontec, Creative Technology, Multi-Tech, and Zoom Telephonics.

The software-enhanced ADSL modem solution will provide PC and standalone modem users with the ability to send and receive high-speed Internet data over regular phone lines between standards-based, digital modem equipment deployed today by most telephone company central offices in the US.
