to all:

Does anybody know if that large block of shares from Goldman Sachs (I think) that was the catalyst for killing AOL today was originally from Chase and other AOL executives. If that were the case, I believe all shareholders should get together and burn their AOL CDs as a formal protest. Then we can all gather around the fire and sing "we shall overcome (100)".

Let's hope tomorrow is a better day.

David

So beating earnings should cause a stock to rise in price? I wish that were always true! Tomorrow will be another opportunity to sell the news. The earnings report is here:

biz.yahoo.com

A lot to sift through. Should be interesting.

Sorry, but it actually fell:
From Briefing.com:

eBay Inc (EBAY 104 3/8 -3 7/16) After the close, online auctioneer reported Q2 net of $0.04 a share (excluding charges), besting the street by one cent... Revenues surged 154% to $49.5 mln... Given frequent outages and increased competition market was concerned that earnings might fall shy of consensus... Consequently, stock shot up 6 points in early after hours trading... However, EBAY then reversed course and fell to a 98... Bouncing back a bit on news that company comfortable with FY00 earnings estimates... Volatile stock now down 4 in after hours.

America Online (AOL 100 -7 15/16) Issue bid lower on Wall Street Journal report that Microsoft, Yahoo! and Prodigy Communications moving into the instant-messaging market... Insider selling also a concern... Both issues being overstated, but right now the sentiment in the Net sector is bearish and traders will hang on any negative news... Stock likely to test support in the 90 area.
