Clark - To nip this temptation in the bud there could be a management decision to always keep the two pieces on separate chips with separate software. Exactly which philosophy Qualcomm will employ is anybody's guess.

Maybe I am missing something but I thought that Qualcomm had already decided.....they announced the MSM4000, which would incorporate both Windows CE and CDMA (it should be out by the end of next year).

I found the following press release which outlines Qualcomm's plans....

news.com

While researching this I came across the following post from engineer (which just served to confuse me). I guess we are just revisiting an issue you guys looked at a couple of months ago.

engineer - . Note that in the pdQ, the processor that runs the Palm apps and the one that runs the phone are two different processors. I feel that mixing the two is a serious mistake and should NEVER be done.

Unfortunately I dont think that engineer ever explained his view of what Qualcomm was doing with the MSM4000. What do the other tech gurus think of the MSM4000? Personally, I think that market for this chip will be huge if Qualcomm can bring it out (and I doubt that any of the earnings estimates have even begun to incorporate this market).
