*** TI to buy Unitrode

DALLAS (Reuters) - Computer-chip maker Texas Instruments Inc. said
Monday it plans to acquire Unitrode Corp., a major designer and
supplier of power management components, in a stock deal valued at
about $1.2 billion. Texas Instruments expects to issue about 8.9
million shares in exchange for all outstanding shares of Unitrode,
about $38.60 for each share of Unitrode. Unitrode's primary products
are power management components in the areas of power supply control,
interface and battery management - a technology increasingly critical
for portable devices. "All three product families will fully
complement TI's existing analog catalog offering with virtually no
overlap," Texas Instruments said. Analog chips process information
found in the natural world, such as sounds, into digital information.

Those would be handy features for EDIG's unit. Can we do it?
