time will tell. my theory is that the gorilla of an industry generally stays that way....the last instance I can think of when a clear leader lost their spot on the perch was 20 years ago(aaple). Happy to hear if anyone can come up with others more resently.
I don't think as many people use aol because its for beginners as some pundits would have you believe. typing in a web address is not brain surgery.
content, graphics and reliability mean something to a lot of people.

various forms of connection mean everything to travelers

high speed is actually aol's strength. ATHM has the potential to sell their product to 60% of the population. AOL has 55% of the population with dsl agreements....that is essentially a wash and aol isn't done...athm isn't done either, but they seem to move less swiftly and don't have the cash flow to be as gflexible. Their 600k subs just don't add up to a lot of money to pay for growth

AOL will be fine IMHO and they will be as dominant in 10 years as they are today....new industries bring in a lot of new players...it is only logical to me as time goes buy and the market matures, the weak will die and the strong will get some of their customers
