>>>I use Waterhouse for small trades. Is there ANYONE who actually likes WATERHOUSE? They have always disappointed me every time.

my dad, an investor for 40 years switched to them about 2 years ago, and likes them and has recommended them to me.

>>>Even E-Trade is better; DLJ is MUCH better. Don't invest in a company you can't/don't believe in .....

you have accounts at all three?
If you are an avid day/swing trader ... maybe a broker linked directly to the ECN's is your way to go ... but they charge upwards of 200 a month or so.

>>>Also, you got the usual "your order is too far from the asking price" crap .... welcome to WATERHOUSE.

my small neighborhood broker does the same thing, that is not abnormal.

I have accounts with Waterhouse, Etrade and WIT capital. WIT's customer service is close to non-existant, and their user interface sucks. But their execution of order is very quick and their system is responsive. They are only good for basic order placing.

Etrade - tons of fancy stuff, but no different from Waterhouse. Waterhouse's interface is old - and their system is oftentimes very slow. I find very little difference between Etrade and Waterhouse - except for the fact that Etrade can offer tons of decent IPOs - something Waterhouse couldn't even do properly on their own IPO

Is there ANYONE who actually likes WATERHOUSE?

I love 'em. Got checking, ATM debit card, money market account, good customer service, local branch, $12 for 5,000 shares. Whattaya want?!?!?!

I agree the "your limit order is too far from the price" is a drag, but that's about my only complaint. Why don't you like them?

As for your "I use Waterhouse for small trades" comment, are you regularly trading more than 5,000 shares? Are you related to Warren Buffet or something?

I use Waterhouse a lot. I love it. Fantastic customer service. The only thing I'm not happy about is the lacking of IPO offers. For that, I'm thinking about going to Etrade. But Etrade has its own problem too, such as frequent outage. Never tried DLJ, heard it's pretty good.
