Unq, the IBM storage announcement is a direct assault on the market that IBM relinqished to EMC several years ago. We are talking $1M multi-terbyte subsystems. This is where EMC earned its stripes and makes its money.

This does not threaten NTAP. NTAP is in the 2TB and lower market where sales range from $25K to $250K.

EMC will be challenged to fight the war on two fronts--the NAS (NTAP's domain) and the SAN (EMC's domain) as IBM heats up the battle.

Nice and quiet, isn't it? I don't expect much activity from this market, except a slight uptrend, I hope, in Q, over the next month.

I have figured out that you have to have a anus radius of under one micron to post to the new Q thread. Not a very friendly place.
