Nice new Intel erratum can result in data loss and need to do a hard reboot of Intel based multiprocessor systems.

Drew Peck seems to be confirming what I hear from the industry on Q3 and Q4. He has raised Intel's target for 99 but continues to point toward a questionable future - right call in my view. But, enough for the traders to go run up the stock. I expect to see a few more "short-term attractive" and "long-term questionable" upgrades from the buy-side analysts in the near future.

Notable from AMD long's perspective is that Cowen made no change to AMD ratings. I guess he is watching Athlon closely like rest of the analyst community. Rumormill on Athlon launch is mixed just like it was in June (which ultimately led to AMD unveiling the motherboard fiasco). Let's see what AMD management has in the bag for its stockholders this time around.

Thread,

Take a look at JC's AMD revenue calculator for Q3, 1999

jc-news.com

With the default parameters it projects the CPU revenues of over $.5B which would result in a break-even quarter. JC feels that the defaults are on the conservative side.

I played with it and quickly ran the revenue up to $.8B with some "optimistic" parameters on K7 wafer starts. Give it a try.
