Homestead, Dell Provide Free Web Site Creation Capabilities
Co-branded Service Launched in Conjunction With Dell's New ISP Service

MENLO PARK, Calif., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Homestead Technologies, the leader in self-service Web-based publishing for consumers, and Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL - news) today announced a co-branded service that enables Dell's consumer and small business customers to build Web sites for free using Homestead's award-winning Web publishing platform. Launched as part of Dellnet.com, the Web site for Dell's new Internet services and access program announced today, Homestead is available immediately to all Dell customers through dellnet.com or directly at dell.homestead.com.

This value-added service enables Dell customers to use Homestead's easy yet powerful drag-and-drop editor to create top-quality Web sites enhanced with their own images and graphics, without having to master any Web-related programming skills. With Homestead's image importer, any standard digital photo or graphics file can be added to a site with one click, without requiring users to know how to upload files to a remote server.

Dellnet(SM) was launched earlier this year in Europe, and is now offered in the United States with Dell Dimension desktop and Dell Inspiron notebook PCs. In addition to Homestead's Web publishing platform, the Dellnet.com Web site features a personalized portal, or start page, that presents a variety of features including free Web-based e-mail, customized news and discounts on non-Dell products and services.

''By providing Homestead's best-of-breed Web publishing capabilities, we're making it easy for Dell's consumer and small business customers to get the most from their PCs,'' said Janet Mountain, vice-president and general manager of Dell's consumer division. ''With Homestead's ease of use and accessibility via the Internet, our consumers can create personal Web pages that tie into their daily lives.''

''Since our technology is Web-based, Homestead gives consumers access to the most up-to-date, complete set of publishing tools, enabling them to quickly and easily build creative Web sites for a multitude of purposes,'' said Justin Kitch, Homestead Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). ''Whether they're creating a private Web site to communicate with family, establishing a presence for their small business or simply posting a few photos to share with friends, Homestead provides Dell customers with the ease and flexibility of drag-and-drop, one-click publishing to the Web.''

Web pages made easy with Homestead

Using Homestead's Web-based publishing platform, individuals, groups and small businesses can easily create collaborative and feature-rich Web sites without the need to buy expensive desktop software. Because Homestead is webware -- software that lives on the Web -- Dell customers will have access to the latest features and functionality and can create and edit pages from any computer. Dell customers building sites with Homestead can use the drag-and-drop elements of their choice, such as text, images, stock tickers and chat rooms. With one-click publishing, pages are generated in HTML and published on the Web to the co-branded site at dell.homestead.com.
