for all those fibonacci freaks out there...fwiw: Jan 1980 gold monthly close was 681.50. Today's july 1999 monthly close for gold is 256.90. Thats 424.6 from the high in 1980 to today which happens to be.....62.3% loss - very very very close to the golden ratio of .618; ALSO, from Jan 1980 to July 1999 is 234 months...1 more than the fibonacci number of 233. ONE more fibo tidbit... Jan 80 high of 873 to July 1999 low of 253.2 = a difference of 619.80-pretty damn close to 618
