Briefly, Kanetsu. . . the regional phone companies. . .baby bells, as they are called. . . are focused on exactly what you are talking about. . . voice, video, internet, phone, wireless, etc. . .

So right off the bat, there is major competition. Now if that weren't enough, WCOM, T, Sprint/PCS and others are wanting in on the very same thing.

So if I were to put up money in this area, it would certainly not be with a start-up. . . unless they had a major partner.

Good article on the coming wireless world in the NY Times. Mentions Phone.com which looks very promising to me, though it's down 20% in a week.
