"Eric Yang with a negative sentiment on Apple? NEVER!"

The quote was taken out of context from the AAPL investors meeting at Macworld New York. Those of you who were there would remember that we were discussing some of the reasons why AppleStore currently accounts for such a small portion of Apple's revenue (retail of AppleStore accounts for about 1.5% of total revenue) and how this is expected to change over the next few quarters.

As it is right now, it simply isn't very compelling to buy from the AppleStore. Standard MAP pricing, low availability (last to have anything in stock) and long wait for Built-To-Order. I had placed 2 orders to buy Macs from the AppleStore before but canceled both of them after waiting for about one week. That quote made it sound like I never received the unit...which isn't true.

I'm confident that Apple is aware of these issues and has been quitely working on a new retail strategy to resolve these problems. The issue was discussed in this article which I co-authored with AppleInsider.
