Ted, thanks for the link. Borgman specifically mentions KLIC...

You mentioned Kulicke & Soffa (KLIC: news, msgs) to us once before.

Borgman: Right. That's in the capital equipment sector. They make wire bonding equipment. They are on the packaging and assembly end of the semiconductor manufacturing process. When you take a little chip that is about a quarter of an inch on a side, you've got to bond these wires to it. Kulicke & Soffa makes the machines that do that. They're the leader in it, have the bulk of the market outside of Japan and tend to be cyclical, as most capital equipment companies are, but their orders have been accelerating rapidly the last couple of quarters as the semiconductor industry recovers.

We expect them in the September quarter to return to profitability at about 20 cents, and we have them at fiscal year -- September is their fourth fiscal quarter -- for $1.30. The stock is around 24 -- still a very reasonable multiple.

Except that Yahoo shows an expected earnings for the year ending
Sep.'99 of -$0.56 and $1.34 for next year [2000]. I wonder how many
will be fooled by Borgman's vague number.
