OJ / Ike,

A long time lurker and appreciate your s/r identification and economic commentary.

I have a theory on the apparent "two sides of Alan Greenspan" that I haven't heard elsewhere - please try this on for size and let me know what you think and also if it matters at all...

- FOMC timeframe "Alan" is Alan as a representative of the committee of beings that form FOMC. I suspect he needs to be more circumspect and follow the group recommendation even if his outlook differs somewhat. His testimony back then was so matter of fact calm that I almost feel he did it on purpose, based on the FOMC group decision.

- HH testimony this and last week is pure Alan, sufficiently removed by time from FOMC and hey, its his baby. This was a different Alan, yet the fundamentals are not much changed.

That last statement makes me feel that more of the "H.H." Alan is likely to come.

Or am I just way off base?
