Mr. Fun,

You are correct -- for some reason I thought I was using a restated balance sheet, but I just checked back and the balance sheet had not been restated. Nowhere did I intimate that Lucent's cash flow was worsening -- simply cautioning that cash flow was worrisome. I did and do have concerns about what appears to me to be poor cash flow numbers, although clearly the situation is improving. But assuming you are correct on all counts I am sure you would agree that cash flow is not as good as it should be.

Did your calculations exclude proceeds from sale of stock (about $750 MM over the last 9 months) and interest during the period?

I hope you are right about the prospective changes in balance sheet items. I am long this company and see no reason to sell. I am simply hoping that operating cash flow will show substantial improvement. I am always concerned when operating cash flow is substantially less than operating income, and I find it a bit disconcerting to see that the current portion of LT debt is as high as it is.

TTFN,
CTC
