Sorry, I'm no clearer on what would constitute the core holdings than you are.

I think they want to comply with restrictions on being an investment fund, and that may have something to do with licking three core holdings . Perhaps others can shed light on that. See SEC filings for details.

The value of ICGE will be in having significant intersts (however that compares to "core") in many companies -- the bigger the portfolio the better. They will need large enough intersts to offer spin-offs/DSSPs as SFE has done, so +25% would be a good measure.

Over 50% and htey record the holdings' earnings/revenues as their own (adjusted for ownership interest, of course). And I think that may also be a part of wanting 3-core.
