These results sure surprised me!

Last quarter NT's revenues were only 26% compared to LU's 33%. Also .55 earnings per share beats the high end estimate of .53. All this is very good news indeed.

The fact that their revenues broke 30% should place this stock at comparable market valuations with LU's and CSCO's. After the slide over the last few trading days (kicked off by LU I might add.....and LU was up 2 1/2 today), I look forward to tomorrow's reaction to these great results.

Go NT.

Martin

Some Observations:

1. Q2 was stronger than expected, but apples to apples revenue growth was about 13.4% not30%. Remember Bay was accounted as a purchase, included as of Sep. 1 1998. Q298 had no revenues from Bay. Add in the $618M from Bay to get the real compare.

2. Optical carried the day. Wireless, although up 17% or so, continues to lag LU, NOK, and even ERIC.

3. Enterprise was terrible. If you adjust for Bay, it was down 10% or so YoY.

4. Analysts will raise numbers, just on the reduction in tax rate from 35.5 to 33%.

5. Rest of 99 will be no problem, Y2K is not an issue. The street will like that message.

6. Company refused to give any concrete guidance for 2000 - only we'll grow top-line faster than industry growth. Analysts hate this.
