Actually I live in Italy. The question of BW's jurisdiction over me is still a bit unclear. For quite awhile they couldn't find me. They tried emailing me the summons and complaint, but can't seriously have imagined I'd believe that was proper service. Then on 24 May, 6 days after Jeff and Bill had petitioned the court for an extention on their response (no, BW wasn't gracious enough simply to accord it; Bill had to file), they filed an objection, saying that 30 days was too long, yada yada. In addition, they asked the court temporarily to lift the stay on discover so that they could subpoena "third parties"--I suppose they mean Jeff and Bill--in order to locate me.

Oddly enough, on 25 May they suddenly found themselves able to mail me a certified letter with the summons and complaint. Did they inform the Court? No. On 26 May Judge LaPort ruled against both parts of their motion.

I realize this doesn't actually speak to the question of jurisdiction, but it's interesting, isn't it?
