I can't comment. There are a greater number of possibilities when it comes to chipsets for servers. All I can tell you is that so far, the only 8-way Xeon chipset from Intel will be Profusion. No 8-way chipsets for IA-64 (Merced, McKinley) has been announced yet, but the 4-way Merced chipset, 460GX, has already been revealed.
