Yahoo , Telebanc in online deal

ARLINGTON, Va., July 28 (Reuters) - Online portal Yahoo! Inc. said Wednesday that customers could get access to Telebank accounts under an agreement with the Internet bank.

The company said in a statement that the accord gives users of the Yahoo! Finance and My Yahoo! services access to their Telebank account information.

Users of Yahoo! Finance and My Yahoo! will have the opportunity to open a new Telebank account. Further details were not immediately available.

TeleBanc Financial Corp is the holding company parent of Telebank.

Telebank has agreed to merge with online investment company E*Trade Group Inc. (Nasdaq:EGRP - news) in a stock deal.

In late morning trade on Nasdaq, Yahoo was up 6-3/16 at 137-1/2, while Telebanc rose 9/16 to 30-3/8.
