I've been a lurker on this thread for the most part. I have learned the hard way not to try to time this one. I sold prior to reporting of first quarter earnings and immediately bought back when I saw the stock exploding skyward. Not breaking 156.5 today may be troubling to you Mike, but I think you'll be well rewarded for patience. I have to admit I sold a little Q yesterday to fund a purchase of SFE.
I have a client who has made a fortune in his holdings of this stock alone, not including the value of his Novell which was brought public by SFE through a rights offering.

Whenever I become doubtful I pull out a copy of George Gilder's newsletter and thank my lucky stars that I own a chunk of QCOM that I will never sell.

Regards,

Doug

MikeM. Looks to me like we are in a period where funds are rebalancing their portfolios and its no reflection on Q's investment value. Funds that have huge appreciation on Q are selling their winner and buying some other stocks (probably w/ less potential) to be prudent and "balance risk." Other funds see Q's potential and are adding it to their portfolios. This could go on for a while if funds owning disproportionate amounts of Q want to rebalance, but refuse to sell it at a low price. Qualcom's unexpectedly large offering sopped up much index fund demand leaving S&P speculators w/ much stock on their hands.
