SanDisk CompactFlash Memory Card Used As Boot Source And Storage Device
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 1999--SanDisk Corporation (Nasdaq:SNDK - news) announced today that Intermec Technologies Corporation has introduced the Norand® 600 Series, a palm-sized line of mobile computers which rely on SanDisk CompactFlash(tm) (CF(tm)) memory cards as the primary boot source and storage device.

A SanDisk CompactFlash memory card is included with every Norand 600 Series computer sold.

The new Norand 600 Series mobile computers are ideal for those who want the best features of both consumer PDAs and high-end industrial mobile computers. The Norand 600 Series will offer a choice of operating systems on SanDisk's CompactFlash card, including Microsoft® Windows CE, Windows 95 or MS-DOS. The Norand 600 Series is available for shipment beginning in September.

Nelson Chan, vice president of marketing at SanDisk, said, ''Intermec's introduction of an industrial palm-sized computer which boots from our CF card is a very significant move for solid-state memory. As SanDisk increases capacity of its product lines, the trend to use our removable flash cards as a primary boot source is increasing rapidly. In addition, our flash cards offer high reliability and easy removability for system updates.''

Mike Colwell, vice president of marketing for the Norand Mobile Systems Division of Intermec, said, ''Our commitment to offer rugged, reliable and easy-to-use industrial mobile computers demands solid-state, non-volatile memory. SanDisk is a technology leader in flash memory and has for many years continued to provide us with heavy-duty flash memory in both embedded and removable form factors.''

SanDisk-branded CompactFlash cards, ranging in capacity between 4 and 96MB, are available at more than 11,000 retail outlets worldwide as well as through an extensive worldwide industrial distribution channel.
