Well, I am in the SF area so Santa Barbara is not my area. I do know Carmel/Monterrey though... its quite a ways from Santa Barbara. In Carmel I can't think of anybody that has a private beach, but a lot have ocean views and are on the ocean, its just not private. Here is a link, if you want a restaurant then its the expensive places mostly, I have stayed at Highlands inn and La Playa (2nd half of page under resorts). carmel-by-the-sea.com There is a private beach at Pajaro Dunes which is a beach on monterrey bay. There are all these conference facilities and condos etc. to rent there, and its a private beach. Personally I like Carmel a lot better, its warmer and you can walk to the shops etc. But Cisco and other high tech companies have these exec things at Pajaro just because its private.
