DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1999-- Forest Oil Corporation
(NYSE:FST) and its partner Ranger Oil Limited (each with 50%
working interest) announced preliminary results from the N-61
well in the Northwest Territories of Canada operated by Forest's
wholly owned subsidiary Canadian Forest Oil, Ltd.

The N-61 well has reached a total depth of 10,334 feet. The well
bore penetrated a highly porous dolomite in the Nahannai
formation which yielded strong gas shows when it was penetrated.
The N-61 well is located some six miles to the southwest of the
Ranger operated P-66A discovery well (Forest and Ranger each with
a 50% working interest) which production tested at 30 mmcf/d
through 3-1/2" tubing.

Current plans are to begin testing the N-61 well in the next
2-3 weeks. Test information should be available in October 1999.
Canadian Forest and Ranger are currently conducting a 3-D seismic
program on acreage adjacent to the N-61 well with the objective
of identifying potential development locations.

producing properties are located in the United States in the Gulf
