Your keywords are.....
people born under almost exactly the same astrological chart.

Unfortunately the study was done by people who didn't seem to realise that twins never popped out SIMULTANEOUSLY (i.e., right on the dot!!!) but that they were always born several to many minutes apart. During that time span (from several minutes to hours), the Moon Sign and the Ascendant Sign (the Zodiac Sign that rises over the Eastern Horizon at the moment of birth) all too often changes. Therefore, a difference of just a few minutes is enough to make a VAST difference!!!

Why? Because in astrology, the moon and the ascendant* signs are indicators/determinants of the psychological/mental traits of an individual and, as the moon moves so fast relative to the other planets, its own position and its placement relative to them and the ascendant will change significantly from second to second. So that accounts for the differences in traits of twins born under ALMOST identical astrological positions. Just how almost is your "almost"? Five minutes? Ten minutes? One half hour?

It might interest you to know that in Chaldean and Hindu astrology, a second is divided into 7 equal parts. My! What a fine distinction!

Very often it is not possible to compute exact charts because the exact times of birth of individuals (and even of events) are unknown. However, many individuals attempt Rectification (or approximation) of their birth charts by working backwards from recollection of the times of occurrences of significant past events in their lives.

It a pity those conducting the long range studies either didn't know enough
or have ignored taking into account what I have pointed out above. PERHAPS they were deliberately out to,
or were sponsored (therefore possibly BIASED, too) to,
debunk astrology! Who knows?

A little (or incomplete) knowledge can be a dangerous thing!

P.S. The ascendant* sign also indicates physical appearance, especially facial appearance. BTW, I have a couple of nephews who are twins. One resembles more of his father while the other resembles more of his mother. And they are as different as night and day: while one is an extrovert and is hot-tempered, the other is an introvert and of a very placid disposition. They were born 20 minutes apart.

Citation, please.

The only long-range study of twins most of us have ever heard of was the Minnesota Project, which "proved" exactly the opposite. But the researchers were investigating the genetic component in personality, not astrological influences (what an idea!). Hence they focussed on twins reared apart, and found such overwhelming evidence of similarities in personality, that they came down hard on the "nature" side of the nature/nurture dispute. (Their research results remain controversial, however.)

Two recent books also summarize this study, as well as subsequent "twin" research (which has become a major industry of sorts):

Twins : And What They Tell Us About Who We Are, by Lawrence Wright (1997)

Entwined Lives : Twins and What They Tell Us About Human Behavior, by Nancy L. Segal (1999)

Of course, they do not tell us anything about astrology.
