Bema Boosts El Callao Stake To 45% In Debt Settlement

VANCOUVER -- Bema Gold Corp. (BGO) said it has received 5 million common shares of El
Callao Mining Corp. as payment of a C$750,000 debt.

In a news release, Bema said it now holds 20,746,598 El Callao shares, representing about 45%
of the shares outstanding.

It said the 5 million shares are for investment purposes and to settle the debt.

Bema Gold is the largest shareholder of El Callao and manages its affairs. El Callao explores for
gold in Venezuela. The common shares of El Callao are listed for trading on the Vancouver Stock
Exchange under the symbol "ECM."

Bema Gold is a mining company.
