To the thread: Just where are we?

Got a PM from a friend last Thursday: Here's one paragraph:

I should have never written about how well I was doing. I've lost almost $53,000 in the last week or so (Jeez, is that possible?). Luckily, I made $42,000 in the two weeks preceding that but my stuff is usually not THAT volatile. Hope the Big Evener Upper in Stock Market Heaven now reads how bad things are going for me and gets me back to even a $10,000 profit this month.

Sound familiar? I too had an delicious June/early July, but it has been like busting rocks to get a winner the last week or so. Fortunately, I've only given back about 15% of what I made, and I'm taking a break. Going white water rafting and rock climbing Thursday through Sunday. After finally having a reasonable up day, I got flat to enjoy the vacation.

It's really hard to pick up on the trend right now. Nerve racking to be either long or short. (I've done both recently)

Robert -- I don't about time frames -- I look at AMZN post split in the 30s and wonder how we will all resist -- even knowing the carnage. Lets see how it goes down, and how much of the market goes with it -- imagine, they chose this moment to split their stock? Incredible.
