MMV, Debt is not bad, if you can invest in growth opportunities. Stop this nonsense about data stuff. The data routers are old and getting rusty. There is no such thing as data only. It is all about the 21st century communications which inovolves multitude of products which includes OPTICAL networking, Wireless broadband networks, multiservice networks, and the data networks. There is no one, with the depth of these products than LU. They will announce and deploy products cisco can only dream of. Softswitch of LU is a great example. Today Joe Nacchio of QWEST said, he can not get enough optical core switches from these vendors. CISCO has only one thing a slow gigabit Router GSR crap. If you are dreaming that Router will deliver all the above services you along with other CISCO heads should get their heads scanned horizontally and vertically only to find them empty.

MMW, I think you are making some errors. Debt is not a bad thing. It provides leverage -- better returns for shareholders. And LU's debt levels are not excessive. I view the company's mediocre cash flow as an opportunity for improvement, which, when realized, will provide investors with a tremendous upside.

I find it interesting that you point to MSFT and CSCO, because I view those companies as paradigms of poor financial management. For example, MSFT has about $42BB in cash. But cash is a dead asset. If it is not deployed in cash-generating activities it is useless. I also find it odd that you consider LU's price too high without generating similar qualms about MSFT and CSCO. In fact I exited from CSCO a couple of months ago simply because I felt that the price was out of all proportion to prospective earnings and cash flow.
