That's hardly it, Gustave, you have to WIN your audience. Otherwise they are gone in a second. The situation in a thread is not so different from broadcast media. There is enough space left for arrogance. You can boldly claim and there is NO inherent self-control before you publish. In the broadcasting stations it is seldomly a SINGLE person that decides on the selection and terming of the messages. Therefore some kind of self-restriction is mostly present there.

I fear what you did here won't do for reconciliation with CK and TD.
I can partly understand all three of you here.

If two of you call me I would offer a service of reconciliation (to win you back your audience, to reopen discussion if one of your American partners is interested, to open a possibility for you to learn from your American partners, if you are interested).
As a general approach I would say posting is no fun if you were not willing to learn.

I'll stay abstinent from further comments on those few postings until such a call comes.

I was describing German nationals I have been exposed to in Spain, Mexico and Jamaica on vacations who did exhibit the characteristics I described. I was still not sure about you but, since you come on so strong with a bit of an overbearing attitude, I was reminded of some of these people.

BTW, what does it mean to "tip me the wink"? I have never heard this expression before. Also, isn't there a strong French influence in Belgium? The Brits were always calling Hercule Poirot a Frenchman.

No serious denouncement intended. TD
