If you look at last year's Lucent chart, this year is retracing almost exactly and you know what happened last fall.

God, I'm glad someone finally pointed this out. I suspect you'd find that the chart for this period in '97 is similar as well. Of course past performance is not an indication of bla blah blah blah.

I was thinking last night that a little "cooking the books" scandal might be a great opportunity for longs. The stock would get hammered for at least a couple months, but then all the fools who sold would realize that this company is not going to be able to help but make money for the next five years. In the meantime, I would have been in scooping up big chunks of LU at bargain basement prices.

But, of course, this won't happen. Not with McGinn on watch.
