Iced TEA in Ontario: Flag Resources confirms large magnetic anomaly near Rathbun Lake Flag Resources (1985) Ltd FGR.A Shares issued 13,772,287 1999-07-27 close $0.25 Wednesday Jul 28 1999 Also Golden Briar Mines Ltd (GLB) Mr. M.C. McLeod reports A ground magnetic survey has confirmed the presence of a 1,200-foot long, 150-foot wide, magnetic anomaly, 2,000 feet due south of a surface showing of nickel, copper, platinum, palladium gold and silver mineralization at Cathro Lake. The Rathbun Lake surface occurrence of massive sulphides and the Matagamasi Lake discovery of disseminated sulphides, bearing the same group of minerals, are one and a half miles northwest and one mile north, respectively. The magnetic anomaly, in gabbro rock, is of considerable significance, due to its proximity to the nickel, copper, platinum, palladium, gold and silver mineralization, and its location at the south boundary of the Wanapitei Gabbro intrusion, at the contact of gabbro with Gowganda sediments, the most favourable locale for finding accumulations of the metal-bearing sulphides. The magnetic anomaly is an indication of the presence of sulphides at a depth of 300 feet to 400 feet, contrary to a previous suggestion, by Flag and Golden Briar, that any ore deposits found in the Wanapitei anomaly would probably be below 1,500 feet. Because of its potential economic significance, the magnetic anomaly is being drilled prior to deepening the Matagamasi Lake discovery hole from 2,636 feet to below 3,000 feet, to reach the projected source of the 1,111 feet of disseminated mineralization intersected, from 419 feet to 1,530 feet. The magnetic anomaly is on Flag and Golden Briar's joint venture ground, with Golden Briar earning a 50-per-cent interest, from Flag, by spending $400,000 over a four-year period. Three miles southeast, on the east edge of the McLaren Creek fault, on Flag's ground, a ground survey is being completed, to confirm the presence of a coinciding electromagnetic and magnetic anomaly, 600-feet long, outlined by a airborne survey, undertaken by Flag (please refer to the new digital map on Flag's Web site).
