U.S. Oil Statistics: DOE, API Weekly Comparison

Washington, July 28 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. crude oil inventories
fell 5.2 million barrels to 329.0 million barrels in the
week ending July 23, the U.S. Department of Energy says.

This compares with last night's report by the industry-
funded American Petroleum Institute which said crude inventories
fell 1.7 million barrels to 331.20 million barrels in the
same period.

Total U.S. gasoline supplies fell 3.7 million barrels to
208.2 million barrels according to the API, and fell 3.5 million barrels to
205.4 million barrels according to the EIA.

Reformulated gasoline (RFG) supplies, rose 54,000 barrels to
barrels to 41.8 million barrels last week, the API report said.
The EIA said RFG supplies rose 500,000 barrels to 41.5 million
barrels. RFG is the grade delivered against New York unleaded
gasoline futures.

API said U.S. distillate supplies, including heating oil and diesel
fuel fell 271,000 barrels to 135.3 million barrels, while the EIA
said they rose 800,000 barrels to 136.9 million barrels.

Daily U.S. crude imports, excluding crude oil held in the
Strategic Petroleum Reserve, rose 215,000 barrels to
9.2 million barrels a day according to the API and rose 483,000 barrels to
9.5 million barrels per day according to the EIA.

The API said U.S. refineries operated at 98.7% capacity in
the week ending July 23 compared with 98.1% in the previous week
while the EIA said refineries operated at 96.5% capacity compared
with 95.6% the previous week.
